General FaQ
Air purifiers can remove some viruses from the air using a HEPA or electrostatic filter. However a conventional domestic air purifier won’t be able to completely eliminate all viruses from a room. In addition, viruses can survive in a filter for a long period of time. That is why it is very important for filters to be replaced and cleaned regularly. It also depends on the grade of Hepa Filter installed.
All Roger Air Purifiers come standard with a H12 Hepa filter capable of filtering at 99.5% efficiency. To achieve medical grade filtration we have the H14 Hepa that removes 99.995% of air borne particles. It’s certainly worth considering the upgraded H14 filters.
*The reduction of the viruses was proven in the independent laboratory of Airmid in the UK. The air purifiers were tested for a period of 60 minutes in a test chamber with a volume of 28.5 m3. The MS2 virus used in the test is an RNA virus like the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Because of its aerosol properties similar to those of human viruses, its viability and its resistance to disinfection, the MS2 virus is often used in air purifier tests as a substitute for viruses with similar dimensions. With a diameter of approximately 25 nm, the MS2 virus is more than 4 times smaller than the SARS-CoV-2 virus which has a diameter of 120 nm. As proof was provided of the reduction of the smaller MS2 viruses, it can be concluded that the larger SARS-CoV-2 viruses would also be reduced at least to the same extent.
We spend up to 90% of our time indoors. The World Health Organization (WHO) advises the air inside can be 2-5 times more polluted than the air outside. Especially in rooms with no natural ventilation. Air pollution in an enclosed space can cause multiple symptoms which can include: fatigue, increased susceptibility to viral infections, hayfever and allergic reactions to dust and mites. Clean air is just as important as clean water.
Roger is very effective at removing the following: Bacteria & viruses, dust mites, animal hair, bad smells, dust, smoke & tobacco, mould, pollen & formaldehyde. All these pollutants can be found in homes & offices in all locations around Australia.
Know your room size: Ensure you are purchasing a purifier that suits the room. The Bigger the room the larger the device needs to be. Check the air flow & how many times the purifier will change the air in your room. 3x per/hr is adequate, 5 x p/hr is best.
B:Choose the technology, you can choose from electrostatic filters or HEPA filters, Roger uses Dual Filter with HEPA & Activated Carbon. These filters should be replaced every 8-12 mths to ensure optimum performance and clean air.
C: Note only activated carbon filters can remove unpleasant odours and gases from the air. HEPA alone won’t do the job. All Roger air purifiers have a Dual HEPA H12 & Activated Carbon filter installed. Change one filter every 8-12mths for clean fresh air.
D: It is also worth considering the number of decibels the purifier will produce, especially if you plan to use the air purifier in a bedroom or living room. Roger operates very quietly
